Tax Manager
The Tax Manager for the U.S. will report to the Financial Controller, and up to the Partner responsible for back-office functions and will interact with the U.S. Leadership team as well as the Management Committee Member responsible for the U.S. He or she will be responsible for overseeing tax matters in the U.S for four legal entities (Consulting, LLC (SAP), Products, Arcwide), which includes but not limited to:
- Evaluating new Opportunities and Sales to determine if there are any sales tax considerations
- Evaluating new Opportunities and Sales to determine if we need to register in a new state
- Evaluating new Opportunities and Sales to determine if we need to register for employee withholding in a new state
- Working with FW Legal to make sure we register with the Secretary of State properly in each U.S. state
- Registering all entities as needed for tax on Revenue, Sales, Employee Withholding, etc
- Serving as the point of contact for each state government as it relates to tax issues
- Filing federal and state taxes
- Ensuring compliance with local, state and federal tax laws and regulations
The preferred candidate is someone who has experience in this type of role and is able to communicate with various levels of leadership. Attention to detail is a must as well as knowledge of best practices for tax requirements and regulations.

Salary is negotiable with a range of $125,000 - $170,000 with an annual bonus up to 10% of base salary. The ideal candidate lives or is willing to relocate to Chicago. Position is a hybrid role with a preference for 3-4 days a week in the office, and remote 1-2 days a week.
Qualifications:
- A minimum of 5 years in a Tax related role, preferably in professional services.
- Demonstrated experience with tax registration and filings in multiple states and at a federal level.
- Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and results-oriented work habits.
- Experience working with Microsoft Office Suite and SAP.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills as well as ability to work with all levels of US colleagues.
- The ability to learn quickly, work independently and meet established individual goals and objectives.
- Ability to analyze complex tax related topics, to explain them in a comprehensible and recipient-oriented manner.
- Strong analytical skills and number driven.

- Bachelor's degree from an accredited college/university in business administration, accounting, or a related field or equivalent experience, Big-4 experience a plus.
Responsibilities:
- Prepare and lead the review for U.S. entity federal, state, and local tax returns and the accurate and timely filing of all relevant tax forms
- Implement and lead processes for reviewing Opportunities and Sales to capture relevant tax information – revenue, sales, employee withholding, etc
- Ensure all sales include the appropriate taxes for advisory services, software sales and implementation at a local, state and federal level
- Work with Financial Controller on forecasting taxes properly in the annual budget and each monthly update
- Manage, as needed, any external firms contracted for tax purposes
- Define and maintain effective control procedures over all aspects of tax processes
- Manage and facilitate IRS income tax audits including preparation of responses, schedules, etc.
- Monitor legislative and regulatory tax law developments, communicate the impact to leadership and create strategies to capitalize on any changes
- Support internal audits and any special tax related projects
- Review tax returns and quarterly / yearly tax projections
- Participation in the creation of the tax package according to group specifications and in accounting issues
- Work collaboratively with firmwide teams responsible for tax, accounting and legal. Note that early morning work hours may be required at times (not frequent) due to time zone differences between Chicago and Europe. Flexible work hours are provided for these situations.
